Since its debut on April 1, 1988, the Cornell Library Catalog has undergone many developments in design and functionality. In the early years, patrons searched the collections using an IBM 3163 ASCII Display Station or, as shown here, a MacIntosh SE. The interface was text-based and monochromatic. Keyword searching was not available until three years later.
