Meghan Sitar

Meghan is the Director of Research and Learning Services, providing leadership for reference, instruction, outreach, and selection activities in the social sciences and humanities at Olin and Uris Libraries. She collaborates with academic support units on the development of programs to support teaching and learning and develops strategic directions for the department.

Assistant Director

Susette Newberry

Susette is the Assistant Director of Research & Learning Services, VIVO Humanities Curator, and Art Selector. She provides reference and instruction in the humanities and social sciences in Olin and Uris Libraries, coordinates the Olin and Uris Libraries workshops program, is active in grants to study and improve library services for graduate students in the humanities, and teaches Writing 2100: Delve Deeper: Research Methods in the Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences.

Howard Brentlinger, Maps Assistant, Map and Geospatial Information Collection

Howard does the preliminary cataloging for backlogged and newly acquired maps, assists patrons in finding maps, and provides administrative support for the Map and Media Collections.

Kaila Bussert, Visual Resources Outreach Librarian

Kaila explores the use of emerging technologies in library instruction and reference. Her background is in Middle East Studies, and she is the selector for general social sciences. Kaila provides instruction in the use of visual resources for the College of Arts and Sciences and is the library liaison to the university's Fulbright program and to the Institute for Social Sciences.

Peter Campbell, Reference Assistant

At the Olin Reference desk, Peter has been helping members of the Cornell community and visitors to the library with their general questions and research needs since 1991.

Virginia Cole, Reference and Digital Services Librarian and Selector

In addition to coordinating and implementing digital services for Olin and Uris reference, Virginia provides reference and instruction in a variety of humanities and social science disciplines. Her specialties include history and medieval studies, and citation management. Virginia is also the selector for medieval studies and British and Commonwealth history and the history of pre-modern Christianity.

Tony Cosgrave, Instruction Coordinator

Tony oversees the Research & Learning Services instruction program and teaches many workshops, course-related classes, and credit-bearing library classes. He has been a reference librarian at Cornell since 1989. His selection responsibilities include Psychology and Higher Education.

Michael Engle, Reference and Instruction Librarian; Reference and News Selector

Michael works with students and faculty at the reference desk, on chat reference, and via e-mail. He teaches  research classes, selects and manages the reference collections in Olin and Uris Libraries, and is the coordinator of the Electronic Text Center in Olin Library. Michael also selects online and print Anglo-American news resources.

Lance Heidig, Outreach and Learning Services Librarian

Lance works in both Research & Learning Services and the Division of Rare and Manuscript Collections. He teaches integrated information literacy sessions and active learning research instruction. He is presently a member of the CUL Information Literacy Task Force, the Library Forum Steering Committee, and the Library’s Sesquicentennial Committee. He selects Children’s Literature for Olin Library.

Sarah How, Reference and Collection Development Librarian

Sarah selects for European social sciences and Italian and French language, literature & history. She also provides reference and instruction services in the humanities and social sciences, and serves as liaison to the Cornell Institute for European Studies. She has a particular commitment to interdisciplinary digital resources and Western European studies. 


Rob Kotaska, Reference Assistant

Rob provides informational assistance and research support for patrons at the Reference Desk during the evening and weekend hours.

Nicole provides reference support to members of the Cornell community and visitors, and supervises the Public Services Support Assistants in Olin Library.

Boris Michev, Maps and Geospatial Information Librarian

Boris leads the Maps and Media Department of Research & Learning Services. He strives to introduce GIS to audiences typically unfamiliar with the possibilities in their areas. His selection responsibilities include Cartography, Geography, and Urban Studies.

Maureen Morris, Reference and Digital Services Librarian

Maureen’s specialities are web design and digital services. She also provides reference and instruction in a variety of humanities and social science disciplines. Maureen is the anthropology and Native American history selector.

Fred Muratori, Reference and Instruction Librarian; Selector

A reference librarian in Olin since 1981, Fred is also the Bibliographer for Anglo-American and comparative literature and film, theater, and drama; Commonwealth literature and film; folklore; and Irish literature. His selection responsibilities reflect his academic background and interest in literature. He is a widely published poet and critic.

Debralyn Muscato, Media Supervisor

Debralyn supervises students operations for the Maps & Media Collection in Olin Library.

Devin Sanera, Instructional Technology Coordinator

Devin provides reference services and assists in
supervising the Public Services Support Assistants in Olin Library. He manages the CL3 and B05 facilities in Uris Library, the Olin 106G classroom, and the equipment circulated from Uris Library. He also manages the computers in the Electronic Text Center, the plotter in Olin Library, and the Net-Printers in
Olin and Uris Libraries.

Nancy Skipper, Reference Services Coordinator

In addition to coordinating reference services in Olin Library, Nancy organizes the reference staff training program. She is also the liaison with the Sociology Department and has collection development responsibilities in Olin Library for sociology and several related areas, including social history, social classes,social psychology, races, social reform, socialism, and criminology.

Patrick J. Stevens, Bibliographer

Patrick is Curator of the Fiske Icelandic Collection and Selector for Old Norse-Icelandic Studies, Jewish Studies, Northern European Studies (Scandinavia, the Netherlands) and Religious Studies. He is also Managing Editor of the Islandica series and library liaison for the Jewish Studies Program. He is a member of both the Division of Rare and Manuscript Collections and the Department of Research and Learning Services.

Lynn Thitchener, Reference/Instruction Librarian

Lynn selects for Government (American Government, Comparative Government, International Relations and Political Theory), provides reference assistance and
