Olin and Uris Libraries house Cornell’s largest collection of resources in the humanities and social sciences including maps, DVDs, newspapers, and microfilms, as well as select engineering and physical sciences materials. In addition to our comprehensive collections, we offer a range of services to assist the Cornell community and visiting researchers in their research, teaching and learning.
Olin and Uris Libraries include the Department of Access Services, the Department of Research and Learning Services, which includes the Map and Geospatial Unit, Interlibrary Services, and Stacks Management. Our mission is to support and enhance the academic learning, teaching, and research activities of the College of Arts and Sciences, as well as all humanities and social sciences researchers and students across the University. We also support local, national and international researchers who use our collections. Read more about the mission and values of the RLS Department and the goals of the Access Services Department.
Our web site will guide you through our collections, services and policies. If you don’t find what you need, please feel free to contact us with a request. We also welcome suggestions for improvements and comments about Olin and Uris Libraries.
We have ongoing projects to improve the aesthetics and usability of both libraries. We have recently upgraded seating in several areas of Olin and Uris, added interactive screens reflecting availability of laptops and other equipment, and continue to plan for future improvements. And, much of Olin and Uris are now food friendly: neat, contained foods are permitted in main areas. Please refer to individual room/area signage for more information about permitted uses. Watch for more improvements to both libraries during the 2017-18 academic year.
If you would like to discuss any aspect of the Olin and Uris Libraries with me personally, do not hesitate to contact me. I welcome your comments and suggestions.
