The opening of the new research library was a source of great pride for alumni and something of a status symbol for the university. Olin’s wealth of resources and expertise promised increased access to information and more efficient research. Renowned government professor Mario Einaudi heralded the opening of the new Library as a history-changing event for the campus and promised that it would become a workshop for “an intensification of research,” a place of exhilaration and the resolution of mysteries.
