Carrels

If you had wanted to search the online catalog in the early 90s, you would have needed a dialup modem or an Ethernet connection. You would have used NOTIS (launched in 1988), which had a text-based, monochromatic interface. The Library launched its first Web site in 1994, with experimental access to the catalog in 1997. Wireless access via Red Rover came to Olin and Uris Libraries in 2000.

Until the mid-1990s, access to Olin Library’s stacks was limited to faculty, graduate students, and undergraduate students with a stack pass.
